Day 1 San Francisco to Point Arena 219mi/352km

Arrive at 9am in South San Francisco to pick up your reserved motorcycle. Quickly load up the motorcycle side cases or top box with what little you need and leave your luggage there. You’ll probably have to fight commute traffic as you head north into San Francisco but that will change as soon as you get on the Bay Bridge. The bridge is the real bridge of San Francisco and is the starting point for Interstate 80 which crosses the entire nation. You’ll cross another bridge as you head north towards the wine country. Don’t worry about bridge tolls your bike is all locally set up, just right through the “fastrack” lanes. Dive into the wine country on hidden back roads and head for your delicious lunch stop in the northern tip of the Napa Valley. Climb up out of the valley on some challenging curves and take the local riders route west. Appropriate fuel stops are marked on your route and keep you topped up as you are heading into open country. Cross through the northern wine country and continue west as coastal mist gives rise to redwood forests. Head out on the coastline to your hotel for the next two nights. Hit the local pub and bistro with 31 local beers on tap and excellent dining. Things move at a slower pace up here on the wild north coast so relax and enjoy it.
