The tour
itself was super smooth from the get-go. Sergi and David were our guides, and they are
both amazing individuals, truly keys to the overall success of the entire tour.
Sergi was on point, lead motorcycle, and David followed with the chase van. Once
again, kudos to Cat and Nancy for tying into the local IMT program!
We were on
BMW’s, all in great condition, thoroughly maintained and cared for. The entire group did not experience one bike
issue during the total tour! The tour
itself was a kaleidoscope of experiences; great accommodations, incredible
roads, amazing scenery, intriguing people, and endless “WOW” factor. Every day, every hour, every lunch, every
stop, a new adventure! We rode the
Pyrenees, with Sergi and David’s local knowledge coming into play. Pass after pass, and always with a measure of
good verbal background on the area, the roads, the local economy and other
tidbits from the IMT crew. We even
dipped in and out of France twice, catching a festival on a lunch stop there,
totally unexpected and another great memory!
Incredible curves, mountaintop passes, canyons, and rivers. Endless “eye candy” with epic riding…. Heaven
on two wheels!
My favorite
stays were the two Paradors, with the incredible fortress of Cardona Castle
being my tops. This is where we stayed,
while we did our 2 tracks days at Aragon, so 3 nights in a medieval castle,
pure magic! All of the accommodations
were outstanding, Nancy and Cat have this down.
Food? Too many incredible meals
to pick one as my favorite, the fare was just flat out amazing, from start to
finish. I will mention that the best
“pot pie”, true British commonwealth style, that I have ever had, was at a
“pub”, just outside of Alcaniz, where the Aragon track is, go figure, in the
middle of Spain!
The track
days with BMW Race Academy and Troy Corser were an incredible fun and
educational experience, stand alone. If
one just went there for that, your cup would be full! Motorland Aragon is a great racetrack, “Fast,
Blind, and Big”, as Troy described it…..really fun to ride and learn, easy to
improve one’s lap times, and the supplied 1000RR BMWs were perfect bikes for
this application. The coaching was spot
on, complete with video and low “student” to coach ratio, no more than 3 riders
to a coach. It should be recognized
that the program is tailored to riders familiar with a motorcycle, but one does
not have to be an “A” track rider to go on these tours and attend these track
days! One of my highlights was securing
a two-up ride with Troy Corser, at Aragon, the track where just a week
previous, I had watched Marc and Dovi duel.
It was the thrill of a lifetime to be on that bike, with the speed that
Troy carried, me on the back, passing nearly everybody on the track…..the
ultimate roller coaster…..there is no amusement park on this earth that can top
that experience!
This tour
rated as high as the previous two, in my book, and this is a testament to the
experience that Leod Escapes provides, on all of their tours! The research is properly performed, the
knowledge and experience are present, leaving the individual or couple to
simply “enjoy the ride”. I have been
riding international motorcycle tours for over 20 years now. The organization that goes into an endeavor
like this is significant, and nobody does it better than Cat and Nancy. The fact that they have combined Track with
Tour, is not only unique, it is super special, exciting, and enjoyable! I am very much looking forward to the Alps
tour I will be doing with them this year, and riding yet another amazing track, Sachsenring in Germany! It should be
noted that this year’s Spain tour, 2019, not only has the three days at Aragon,
but one also has the option of 3 days at Catalunya, all with the aforementioned
BMW Race Academy……If I could make this one again, I would do so!
Why should
you do this tour? Because there is
nothing else like it. If you like to
travel, with good people and good motorcycles, throwing in a track experience
at a world class race track, then this is the pinnacle. Sign up, you will not be sorry!
